A little about us…

A lot has happened in Injune’s short life. Injune town began in 1920 when it was established as a camp at the end of the railway line. The line was built to support the development of the Mount Hutton Lands Soldier Settlement blocks after the great war of 1914-1918. Injune was gazetted as a town in 1922 – THE CENTENARY WILL BE CELEBRATED FROM 11 – 19TH JUNE 2022 (this year!) For further information please click on CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF INJUNE on this website. Since then the main industries were dairying, cotton, cattle, sheep and the sustainable harvesting of natural timber cypress pine. Today cattle and timber production are the main industries. When the road north to Rolleston was finally sealed, Injune became the Gateway to the famous Carnarvon Gorge in the Carnarvon Ranges. A more recent development in the area is the natural coal seam gas industry which has enhanced retail and other services to Injune. You are welcome to stay, experience the character of Injune and visit the National Parks in the area. Discover the diverse species of flora and fauna in the district.
